A Trip Back to Childhood

Today was the most memorable day in my life for a very long time, and in a very simple way. At Grandmama's today Kitten and I took a walk. Starting out silently, we found sticks to be swords... and for some reason, everything was transformed into a world of magic... I haven't experienced that for so long... Ever since I was a small child.

I was enchanted by the day, the weather, and the springyness at the very first, and for some reason began to play...

I lifted my sword high, and began to pretend to be an explorer by the 'turbid Amazon' with my dear sister. I was the guy, of course, and we used archaic language. We marched stately through the turbid Amazon for a while, then we came upon damage wrought by the evil black dwarfs. It was heartwrenching. The poor trees... Several of them were cut down, and there was sawdust all around. We stared in dismay at the tree lives lost because of the evil dwarfs, but then we came upon a greater evil. A great big goblin home was uprooted. A large tree, the roots of which housed a family of goblins, was lying on its side, the home wrecked. My sister and I climbed down to the wreckage... but alas! All was lost. In shock we realized that this was the very own home of our brother and his goblin wife and their twelve children. Each one of the poor goblins were dead, but our brother was down in South Carolina, so he didn't even know about it. We realized, tho, that the littlest goblin baby was missing, and we went on a journey to find her. The thorns and brambles caught at our clothing, trying to grasp us back, but we finally found the place where she was hidden and brought her back to the sacred stump. To our great consternation, there was an old woman there waiting to take the baby away. She told us that the child would never fit in with the human race, but that she would raise and care for the child as her own. It was terribly sweet, and we gave her up, just as the dwarfs came upon us. Valiently we fought, and finally slew many of the evil dwarfs. Unfortunately, more chased us across the turbid Amazon, and we barely escaped with our lives. As of yet, we have not heard from the old woman, but a tree did tell me that she saw the woman and baby safely playing by the turbid Amazon, and the black dwarfs have begun converting to friendly ones now. Good to hear. I am not sure if our dear brother has heard the news yet, then, of how his family has died. I am very sorry for him... Though I never did want him to marry the goblin girl, no matter how pretty.

  2. Ah...our poor brother is bereft, and....NOT SAD! =) You didn't like being married to a goblin girl in the first place, remember? And you weren't sure it was "happily ever after" anyway cause of all your children! So, be happy! Forsake the tears that threaten to drown you, and lift up your voice in happiness! LOL *grin*

That was so much fun! I had never played make-believe with Koala, believe it or not! And the woods at Grandmama's IS enchanted. I love playing, and it was so much fun to do so. It was like we entered a world where we allowed ourselves to become however we wished without thought of shame. We were little girls then, not nearly sixteen-year-old's and seventeen-year-old's. Just little girls playing.

    2. I'm wondering if maybe you have confused your age with mine???? 1/2 year is not nearly, my dear. I'm glad you had fun:) I shall have to come up there one of these days and see the enchanted land for myself.
